The Importance of Having a Web Presence

Whether you’re an individual promoting your business services or a small business with a brick and mortar existence, there has never been a time when it was more important and financially sensible to maintain a web presence.

A recent Microsoft survey found that 92 percent of people check a company’s website before they make a purchase. That means that 9 out of 10 people expect to check you out online before they spend money with you.

Beyond being an indicator of reliability to potential customers, maintaining a web presence has many more benefits.

1. Serves as a virtual storefront 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

2. Helps establish an image for your business that highlights your competency and quality of work regardless of your physical location or the money you spend on overhead.

3. Better customer service by giving customers the ability to voice concerns or find answers to questions when they have them.

4. Saves you money by focusing all of your product and service information online instead of printing costly flyers and brochures. In addition, a website allows for instantly updating information unlike print media.

5. Allows you to connect to new markets by advertising nationally and globally, allowing customers from around the world to experience your products and services.

Just 10 years ago it would have been impossible for most businesses to have a beneficial and cost effective Internet presence. Today with low cost web hosting sites, free online business listings, and free social networking sites popping up, maintaining a cost effective web presence gets easier every day.

WEB VIDEO – MAKING YOUR WEBSITE WORTH WATCHING

In today’s world a website is as important to a business owner’s success as having a business card. In fact, for some types of businesses, having a website is more important than having a storefront. A website is more than merely an online brochure or digital phone book listing. A website is nothing less than a self service interactive tool allowing the customer to educate themselves about your products and services. However, online consumers demand an engaging web presence to get their attention. Web videos are a dynamic and cost effective way to engage your customers, improve sales, and aid in search engine placement.

Unlike commercials on television, which are a passive form of advertising, viewers are more receptive to the message of your web video because they have chosen to watch it. Web video also gives you the ability to connect with potential customers on a personal level. By showing real people using and talking about your products and services you can build a trusting relationship with customers that is very important to increasing sales.

Studies show that consumers are using online video ads to help make purchasing decisions. Viewers of web video are more likely to research the products and services in the video, talk to others about the product or service, and make a purchase.

Web videos also help to ensure that your website will be seen by others. Most search engines now include web video in their evaluation of a websites value, which directly relates to the site’s search engine placement. Like photos, blogs, and text, web video now weighs in heavily when search engines decide how high in their placement to list a site.

With web video you can make your website a valuable and dynamic resource for your customers. Let them see how great your product or service is in a video and you’ll see an increase in sales and customer loyalty.
